Apparently, that is a bad thing. Or, it makes him dangerous. Maybe, he has his own "Black Agenda". You know, he was once on a board with a guy who did some really fucked up stuff - when Obama was 8. Funny thing, the Annenberg Project - the board in question - is an offshoot of the Annenberg Foundation, which is named for a man who was an Ambassador during Ronald Reagan's administration. That man's widow, also a former Ambassador is on a list of McCain supporter's that was just released by the campaign. To borrow from Rachel Maddow: Does this mean John McCain is supported by someone who supported a Domestic Terrorist? (http://tinyurl.com/4cbosm - hers is the second name on the list.)
Honestly, the McCain camp has jumped the shark. I guess this is what you do when you've got nothing left. I have this mental image of Sarah & Cindy pushing the Straight Talk Express, with Grampy at the wheel...and the left turn signal is blinking away.
If Barack Obama doesn't win in a landslide, you can be sure the neo-cons have stolen the election. Here's the proof: www.realclearpolitics.com - this thing has gotten out of Grampy & Vampy's grasp.

If you were to ask political partisans who are only interested in seeing their party win the election, I'm guessing you won't find many Republicans who wouldn't wish to get a do-over and have Romney as their candidate. On the other hand, I doubt you'd find many Democrats who honestly believe Clinton would have a better chance of beating McCain.
BTW it's about freaking time FH put up a new post. I was afraid Brushfires of Freedom had been extinguished.
Ms. F. leaves us all waiting, waiting . . . . then alakazam there it is, the new post.
.
Obama's doing very well. His intelligence, his poise, his grit are all coming through to the voters who wonder if he's "seasoned" enough. This is a guy who seems to be able to handle ANYthing.
.
McCain's looking like a desperate fascist thug.
.
But for weeks I've heard people around me on a daily basis expressing distrust in terms such as this: "Won't he, well, be in favor of THEM?"
.
So don't be too quick to assign an Obama loss to fraud. Might just be old fashioned racism. Although I have to admit, with great admiration and hope, Obama's so good at what he's doing, he very well may overcome the racist backlash.
Amazing times.
Not only was the left turn signal going the whole time, the emergency brake was on as well
I agree with Lefty. We mustn't discount the racism factor. That's always been one of my big fears of an Obama candidacy. Still, at this point, I'd say I'm cautiously hopeful that Obama will win given the effect of the current economic situation.
I have been following the blog and all of your comments on SFGate. Very enjoyable. I agree with Lefty and DSG (and, really, David Gergen's post-debate comments on CNN (they were misinterpreted by some on the Gate)). We still don't know how racism will play out come Nov. 4 - perhaps the polls will show too large a lead to be affected by racism but I think there are significant numbers of folks around the country, dems included, who won't vote for an African American. They won't say that in response to a poll question or may not even realize it until they pull the lever (or bend the chad). This is what scares me more than anything. Over the years, the repub machine has been so effective to playing to the lowest common denominator, whether it is telling people what they want to hear or instilling fear of "that guy", that I won't feel confident of an Obama (and, thus, American) victory until waking up on Nov. 5.
Whenever I pass the scene of an accident I make a point of averting my eyes, so why then, am I so fascinated by videos like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itEucdhf4Us
yogi: thanks for passing that along. I am amazed by the diversity - there were people with long hair, short hair; brown hair and blond. A true cross section of our country . . .
Yogi, it's a pretty sucky world with people like that in it.
what's sucky to me, dsg, is that a mainstream politician would attract them. There are strange zealots on all sides of the political spectrum but most are on the margins. The fact that McCain/Palin courts them is really depressing - that may be the only way to win an election and the ends justifies the means, right? That is what makes me sick about this election - the depths to which they are willing to go. If it was merely a conversative view versus a liberal view with candidates with whom I might disagree but whose capabilities I could not question, I might still be extremely bummed by a repub victory but it might not make me quite as sick (after all, reasonable minds can differ). However, if these two were to win, knowing what it has to take to put them over the top, will make me feel so bad about our country as there is no reasonable justification for Palin and, after watching him for the last month, McCain leading the ticket (after all, a "maverick" can't really lead if he/she differs so much from everyone else). So, I agree that it sucks that folks like this exist but what REALLY sucks is that they may have more than just a marginal impact on this particular election.
Right on time, Palin's frozen chickens come home to roost from Alaska. She's just who we want in the White House, huh? Her husband can threaten to tear Putin a new one. Maybe that'll keep the nukes out of Venezuela.

She musta been hidin' out with that LaSalle character....
dk brown, what's even more sucky than the fact that McCain attracts them is the fact that the GOP's policies encourage the creation of even more of them.
dsg: you are so right. What is so cynical is that the GOP cares a rat's ass about most of these folks and are much more in line with big business, fat cats, etc. I don't have a problem with that (that is, the alignment with the "upper crust") in a sense as that can be a philosophical difference but I do have a problem with the lies and venom that the repubs put out to attract these poor saps.
