That was full of typos, let me try again...
In that video, the turkey in the background sure looked sheepish. And the bird didn't look too happy either...
WV whiel, the sound a turkey makes just before it's slaughtered. There are hundreds of flocks of wild turkeys around here. I love them, not to eat, but they are so ugly they are gorgeous. Last Thanksgiving, as I was going over the river and through the woods to my sister's house, I was debating whether or not I should take a small portion of bird, just to be polite. At that very moment a family of turkeys crossed the road in front of me. Two of the younger ones, got scared and stayed off to the side, so the mother goes back across, shoots me a nasty look, gets her children, and returns to the flock. Now I'm not saying this was an sign or anything, as hardly a day goes by where you don't see turkeys, but it did reaffirm my desire not to eat them.

You bet I remember. Because of international time differences, I also was watching live tv coverage when Jacob Rubenstein made his move a couple of days later.

dj - I was in the womb. I've often wondered if the fourteen year-old who was carrying me was affected much by JFK's assassination. Three months pregnant, she probably just found out. Did her horror at her own situation drown out the horror - and subsequent mourning - of the nation as a whole? Or, did it just make things worse for that scared young woman? I imagine she felt absolutely hopeless; the world must have seemed a very dark place, indeed. (This has led me to speculate that my depression goes back to my time in the womb.)
'pring' is the season between 'inter' and 'ummer'...duh!
