Nice commercial. The Obama campaign should run something like this on a national scale rather than those professorial and boring commercials they run. Thanks
I know!!! I saw the 'real' ad...so similar to this one...this evening. I think someone owes FH some royalties PDQ!
winkingtiger - Sometimes, this stuff just writes itself! Actually, I had been thinking of a similarly-themed 'ad' since I made the first one...the events of Monday cemented things for me.
I'm wondering if my blog forgot to use it's deodorant...I'm not exactly feeling the love. ;-( Maybe it's the ginormous picture of Saracuda that's driving the folks away.
Of course, McCain's pushing for new banking laws all of a sudden. The cynicism inherent in this campaign is startling -- will voters really swing in response to the dodge and spin and dishonesty?
I'm saddened. And you know, I think Obama has no choice but to respond in kind (pardon the phrase). For example, I believe the lipstick-on-a-pig comment was bait; Obama's people already had the clips of McCain saying the same thing and the image of his former aide's book cover ready to post.
Depressing indeed.
(JMF, your blog is an oasis. Often I just stop by to appreciate it without commenting. I'm sure plenty of others do too.)
Like lefty wrote, yes sometimes I just stop by to read cuz someone's already wrote what I would have (although usually articulated better than I).
So, to get the ball rolling, allow me to throw out a perhaps somewhat distasteful thought for discussion. This current financial/fallout, most everyone agrees, is due to the relaxed lending standards and the predatory lending practices of the banking industry.
But I don't own my own home. And I wouldn't have taken out a loan, mortgage or anything, that I couldn't afford and where I couldn't make the payments.
The problem is not the industry's alone. It's guilty of irresonsible lending. But people are guilty of irresponsible borrowing as well.
Oookay
The Truth is often distasteful, Ted, and I think you are right on the money, or devalued money as the case may be...
Remember all those "Flip My House" reality shows that used to be on T.V.? Not so many are left now. Some of these defaulted loans aren't from 'hard-working Americans' so much as people trying to make a quick buck on real estate speculation and failing.
I don't know what percentage of the whole these Flippers might make up, but I don't think Wall Street is entirely to blame for the mortgage crisis either. It takes two to tumble...
On the other hand, imagining a herd of these rapacious Short-Sellers (who I picture as all looking and acting like Gordon Gecko) does not fill me with a sense of security...I don't think they're going away, despite the new 'tough' rules the SEC passed today. There's always a loophole. FH may have been kidding when she mentioned The First Bank Of Mattress, but a lot of people are talking that way today...and that's not a good thing, to paraphrase former broker Martha Stewart.
Whoops, J.M., I missed your "it takes two" comment when I wrote mine on your other thread. It's a cliche, but it's a cliche because it's true. A hard-earned lesson from my divorces.
